Bull Shoals, AR – After leading the first round of the Bassmaster Elite Series tournament on Bull Shoals Lake on Friday with a limit weighing 16-13, Alabama’s Greg Vinson continued to set the pace on Saturday after crossing the stage with a limit weighing 13-8 to push his total weight to 30-5.

Casey Scanlon, who has tasted success on Ozark fisheries in the past, moved into 2nd place on Saturday with a limit weighing 15-5 for a total weight of 30-2.  He will enter Sunday sitting just three ounces behind Vinson.

2013 Classic Champion, Cliff Pace, maintained his position near the top of the leaderboard on Saturday with another consistent effort weighing 14-12.  With a total weight of 29-14, Pace is within a pound of the lead.

The 5 Day Two Facts from Bull Shoals:
Tournament: Bassmaster Elite Series (March 18-22)
Location:  Bull Shoals Lake – Bull Shoals, Arkansas
1st Place: Greg Vinson (16-13, 13-8: 30-5)
50th Place: Charlie Hartley (22-5)
Total weight separating 1st from 10th place: 2-12

1st Place: Greg Vinson (16-13, 13-8; 30-5)
What were your expectations heading into the day?
"I really didn't know how the conditions changing were going to affect my fish.  I was confident that my areas were holding a lot of fish, so I thought I would be able to catch them again but really wasn't anticipating such a slow start."

How would you summarize your day as a whole?
"To put my day into perspective, at about noon I had around six pounds.  At that point in the day I was really thinking about just making the top 50 and surviving.  The techniques that worked so well for me yesterday just weren't working out.  Fortunately I made the right adjustments and was able to catch three good ones in the last few hours and salvage the day. "

Was there a key moment for you during the day?
"Figuring out what I needed to do to adjust to the different conditions today was key.  Also, catching that four pounder made all the difference in the world.  I was able to cull a little spot that I had in the livewell and bump my weight up significantly.  The fish was barely hooked and I was really nervous the whole time I was fighting it back to the boat."

What was the most challenging/surprising aspect of your day?
"The water clarity changed in my area today and I had to adjust to that.  The lack of wind was really challenging for me as well, it made my bite a lot tougher than it was yesterday."

How would you assess your decision making and execution on the water?
"I was a little disappointed that it took me so long to make the right adjustments to get the fish to bite today.  I feel like I made the right decisions, but would give myself an A- today because it took me longer than it should have to make the right adjustments.  I did lose one fish today that I think may have helped me a little, but other than that my execution was pretty good."

2nd  Place: Casey Scanlon  (14-13, 15-5; 30-2)
What were your expectations heading into the day?
"I felt pretty confident headed into today.  I have a good amount of history in this area of the country and really figured the fish out in the second day of practice.  The fish I am on have been in the same places all week, so I was confident that I could catch them again today."

How would you summarize your day as a whole?
"I had my limit by about ten o'clock or so, and quit fishing my good stuff.  I actually went and figured out another pattern the rest of the day and caught about 13 pounds doing that.  I probably went through about thirty keepers today. "

Was there a key moment for you during the day?
"It was pretty much just a steady progression today.  I did catch a bigger largemouth later in the day that helped me cull up some, so that was nice."

What was the most challenging/surprising aspect of your day?
"I have been catching my fish really early and haven't had to deal with any pressure from other anglers.  Really, this has been a really stress free and fun tournament for me so far."

How would you assess your decision making and execution on the water?
"Everything went well as far as decision making goes for me today.  I did lose a couple of fish today that I didn't see, but I am not sure whether they would have helped me or not."

3rd  Place: Cliff Pace (15-2, 14-12; 29-14)
What were your expectations heading into the day?
"I knew today was going to be different because of the weather change.  I knew I wouldn't be able to catch them the same way I caught them yesterday, but I was confident I could catch them in the same area.  I liked yesterday a whole lot better than today."

How would you summarize your day as a whole?
"It wasn't the type of day you want to have to really feel confident about things moving forward.  It was really just one of those days that you had to go out there and just grind it out."

Was there a key moment for you during the day?
"I had one little moment where I was able to pull up on one little stretch and catch four of the fish I ended up weighing in in about an hour.  Other than that it was just a slow and steady battle all day long."

What was the most challenging/surprising aspect of your day?
"I knew that it would be different, but I thought that pattern may have produced something for me, but I spent about an hour doing it and got nothing out of it."

How would you assess your decision making and execution on the water?
"I did lose one fish today but I never saw it.  I really would have liked to have seen it, but I never got that chance."

4th  Place: Terry Scroggins (14-14, 14-11; 29-9)
What were your expectations heading into the day?
"I really thought the weights were going to be a little heavier today, but it really turned out about how I expected it to.  I think when it is all said and done 14 to 16 pounds a day is going to win this thing."

How would you summarize your day as a whole?
"I caught 32 keepers today, and probably could have had more than that if I would have stayed on the fish I had been catching.  I am really trying to manage the fish I have located, but it's hard to cull up doing that.  I caught spots, largemouth, and smallmouth today."

Was there a key moment for you during the day?
"There really wasn't a key moment for me today.  I guess getting a decent limit and being able to let up on my fish is key because it allows me to go find a few more spots throughout the day for tomorrow.  "

What was the most challenging/surprising aspect of your day?
"I really didn't have any surprises today.  It was just a grind out there today, I just put my trolling motor down and went with it."

How would you assess your decision making and execution on the water?
"I did lose one good one today.  I never saw the fish, but could tell it was a really good fish that would have helped me."

5th  Place: Pete Ponds (13-11, 14-12; 28-6)
What were your expectations heading into the day?
"Going into today was totally different than what I was able to do yesterday.  I knew with the changing conditions that I would have to switch it up and do some different things and luckily it worked out."

How would you summarize your day as a whole?
"I had a limit this morning by about 9 o'clock.  I went through about 30 or 40 fish today, but only ended up catching about 12 to 14 keepers."

Was there a key moment for you during the day?
"The most challenging thing was getting away from what was working so well for me on day one.  Really it was the same on day one, because I had to scrap what had been working in practice and adjust to that cold front."

What was the most challenging/surprising aspect of your day?
"I did have a key moment today, but I really can't say what it was because it would give too much of my pattern away.  It is really a neat little deal, and I will be glad to share it with you after the tournament is over."

How would you assess your decision making and execution on the water?
"I missed probably thre fish today that may have helped me.  I feel really good about the decisions I made today, and throughout the tournament so far. "
