THE GOLDEN TICKET CONCEPT

Moore, OK – On Wednesday, The BASS TALK LIVE (BTL) crew unveiled a concept to rejuvenate the Bassmaster Elite Series and B.A.S.S. membership base through a “Golden Ticket” concept that gives one B.A.S.S. member the opportunity to fish in the Bassmaster Classic via the purchase of a “Golden Ticket.”
The Golden Ticket concept would add one additional spot to the Bassmaster Classic field that would be filled by the B.A.S.S. member who was holding the Golden Ticket that they purchased for a predetermined cost.
The revenue generated from the Golden Ticket concept would be distributed in a multitude of ways. The primary functions would be to increase the payout of the Elite Series, generate gross revenue for B.A.S.S., increase B.A.S.S. membership, increase sales for B.A.S.S. sponsors and donatating a large contribution to a charitable foundation selected by the Elite Series pros.
Under the proposed plan with 500,000 members of B.A.S.S., if 10% of B.A.S.S. members purchased just one Golden Ticket at a cost of $49, the gross revenue generated would total $2,450,000.
The $2,450,000 would then be distributed to the Bassmaster Elite Series payout, Bassmaster Classic payout, corporate B.A.S.S., and a charitable organization.

Very interesting concept. With BASS announcing the Wild Card it has raised serious concerns over the financial health of the organization. The Wild Card can only be seen as one thing, a money maker necessary due to financial stress. If only your proposal had come out first. I think most anglers/members would rather spend $49 to take a chance on the Classic, the money from which will benefit many, rather than $2,000 going for the most part to BASS.
