LAKE OAHE RECAP: ASHLEY AND PIRCH

On Monday, Mark Daniels, Jr. earned his first Elite Series title with over 69-pounds of smallmouth on Lake Oahe in Pierre, South Dakota.  Heading into the tournament, a heavyweight slugfest was expected on the massive fishery where walleye is often the targeted species.  

As the official practice period progressed, it became apparent that the smallmouth were not located everywhere on the lake located on the Missouri River.  It took just 18-4 to make the Top 50 cut, and 41-9 to fish on Championship Monday.  

With an average of roughly 17-8 each day, Mark Daniels, Jr. won by just over three pounds over Casey Ashley (2nd) and Cliff Pirch (3rd).
