JOHN CREWS AFTER THE LAST CAST OF THE 2018 SEASON

Posted by Z3 MEDIA STAFF on 09/10/2018

Moore, OK – John Crews’ 2018 Elite Series season was a series of highs and lows.  The 11 time Classic qualifier finished 68th in the Toyota Angler Of the Year point standings and missed the TAOY Championship next week on Chatuge by 53 points.

He recorded a Top 50 finish in half of the eight regular season events, with the highlight of the year coming on the Sabine River where he finished in 6th place – his highest Elite Series finish since the 2016 season when he finished in 3rd place on Wheeler Lake.

Crews was in prime position to make a run at his 12th Classic heading into the final two stops of the 2018 season on Lake Oahe in South Dakota and the St. Lawrence River in New York, but the smallmouth fisheries had other ideas.  Finishes of 87th (Oahe) and 95th (St. Lawrence) dashed his hopes at the TAOY Championship.   It was the worst back-to-back finishes in Crews’ career since the 2008 season.
