BENTON,
KY - The PAA Board of Directors has elected new officers, with Chad Morgenthaler of Coulterville, Ill., tapped as president for a one-year term.
Board members are elected by the PAA Tour-level membership and then the board elects the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
John Crews of Salem, Va., will serve as Vice President after a year as President. Dave Mansue of Hemphill, Texas, will return as Treasurer. Kurt Dove of Del Rio, Texas, continues as Secretary.
"I want to see our direction and momentum continue with our services to the membership, our tournaments, outreach and revenue," said Morgenthaler, who has served on the board for three years. "A lot of people have put blood, sweat and tears into the PAA. I have the opportunity to put the time in and want to see where we can take it. I believe the sky is the limit for the PAA because we still have a lot of potential to grow."
Morgenthaler ran unopposed for the presidency. Crews opted to not pursue the presidency for a second term.
"I have a lot of respect for Chad and his vision," Crews said. "I believe we'll continue to grow. I've been honored to serve as president and look forward to continuing working with the board and membership to help make the PAA stronger."
Other board members are Mike McClelland of Bella Vista, Ark.; Paul Elias of Laurel, Miss.; Matt Reed of Madisonville, Texas; Zell Rowland of Montgomery, Texas; Kelly Jordon of Mineola, Texas; and Brian Snowden of Reeds Spring, Mo.
McClelland was elected to his first term during voting in April. Mansue and Morgenthaler were re-elected.
Fishouflage Joins PAA as Associate Sponsor for 2010 Season
Fishouflage, one of the most unique camouflage patterns anywhere, has joined the Professional Anglers Association as an Associate Sponsor.
Fishouflage combines the high-tech elements of popular 3D camouflage patterns with fish and habitat from aquatic environments. Four eye-catching patterns were introduced last year: Bassouflage, Walleyeflage, Muskyflage and Crappieflage.
Bassouflage will be incorporated into the design of the PAA's travel vehicle and other weigh-in displays for the 2010 PAA Bass Pro Shops Tournament Series presented by Carrot Stix. Bassouflage features trophy bass in a mixture of green reeds and coontail, combined with broken grey and brown
logs, laid over a natural tan background.
We see a lot of potential where the PAA is going and are happy to be in on the ground floor," said Paul Bernegger of Innovative Outdoors, the parent company of Fishouflage. "We're looking at a long-term partnership and growing together with the PAA."
Fishouflage was formally introduced at the 2009 ICAST trade show in Orlando, where it was met with resounding response. Since then, Bernegger said interest has exploded.
"We knew we had something special but it's still overwhelming," he said. "You walk in at the gas station wearing a shirt and the woman behind the counter says it's cool or she needs to get one for her husband or grandkids. We see that over and over, people's eyes lighting up when they see the fish in the shirt. When it all actually clicks, the wow factor is pretty neat.
"Response has been real strong and that's what fuels the fire. It's exciting how universally accepted it's been by friends, family and people on the street, and by the retail buyers who are calling. We knew we had something but when people are calling and contacting you, that's really great."
Professional anglers Greg Hackney of Louisiana and Chad Morgenthaler of Illinois are sponsored by Fishouflage. Hackney competes on the Bassmaster Elite Series and won the 2009 FLW Forrest Wood Cup championship. Morgenthaler competes on the FLW Tour and Bassmaster Open circuits. Both also compete on the PAA Bass Pro Shops Tournament Series presented by Carrot Stix.
"The PAA is excited to be partners with Fishouflage," said Danny Blandford, PAA Program Director. "The unique patterns truly stand out and are sure to continue growing in popularity among anglers and fans in the bass, crappie, musky and walleye communities."
Fishouflage apparel includes a lightweight Performance Fishing Shirt with generous cut design for comfort, Angler Hoodie and Quarter Zip Pullover of water-repellent yet breathable Durafleece, stylish Polo shirts with accent trim, and a selection of caps, visors and beanies for chilly mornings.
