– While Bassmaster All time Heavyweight record holder Paul Elias was competing at the Bassmaster Elite Series Carolina Clash at Lake Murray, his rod and reel sponsor, Quantum, was poised to make a special presentation to Elias at the Lake Murray event.
John Kushnerick, Director of Marketing for Zebco / Quantum, built one of Elias’ favorite Tour Edition TE 1170 reels that he used to set his four-day record of 132 pounds, 8 ounces at Falcon Lake in Zapata, Tex. and had it customized in honor of his accomplishment.
“We wanted Paul to have something to place on a shelf to commemorate the record,” Kushnerick said. “So we took one of his favorite reel models and laser inscribed his name and 132.8 lbs on the handle so that he would have something to look at and further remind him of the record.”
