Tuscumbia, Ala – On Saturday, May 31, as the Bassmaster Elite Series Anglers prepared to start practice for the Southern Challenge on Wheeler Lake, four anglers took time out of their schedule for an appearance at Jim Bishop Toyota in Tuscumbia, Ala., near the home of Professional Anglers Association President Tim Horton.
Horton said that along with himself, Terry Scroggins, Jason Williamson, Gary Klein, all of whom are members of the Professional Anglers Association, spent time with fishing fans and customers of Jim Bishop Toyota. “We went to thank everyone for their support of bass fishing, and to spend time with people to show them all of the facets of the Toyota Tundra,” Horton said that the quartet of pros had a lot of fun. “We had a great time that day, it’s always great to spend time together, signing autographs and meeting the fans of our great sport.”
Bishop Toyota’s General Manager, Brad Bishop, and outdoor enthusiast himself thanked the pros and the PAA for their effort in putting together the event by donating $1000 to Catch-A-Dream, the official charity of the Professional Anglers Association.
“It was unexpected, and certainly appreciated for the dealership to take part in what Catch-A-Dream does,” Horton said. “The PAA believes that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, and that is what Catch-A-Dream does; help from great partners like the Bishops helps us contribute to that.”
Catch-A-Dream is a non-profit organization that grants once-in-a-lifetime outdoor experiences (specifically hunting and fishing) to children 18 years old or younger who have a life-threatening illness. Catch-A-Dream's singular purpose is to provide consumptive use outdoor experiences to fill the “gap” created when the Make-A-Wish Foundation established national policy that precludes granting a child a wish that involves hunting or use of “...firearms, hunting bows, or other hunting or sport-shooting equipment.”
