Sallisaw, OK
– Veteran Oklahoma pro OT Fears has returned to Zoom, the soft plastic company that helped him along to many of his best moments as a touring professional.
"When I won at Santee in 1994, I was Carolina rigging a Zoom lizard," he said. "I wasn't with them at the time, but I've always been truthful. I don't lie and say that I caught them on something I didn't."
At Santee, he set what was then a BASS record five bass limit of over 34 pounds.
He became officially affiliated with the Georgia-based company a few years later, but recently left for another offer.
"That definitely was a mistake," he said. "They promised me a lot of stuff that never came true, and I realized that I was continuing to use (Zoom's) product. They fill all of the needs I have in soft plastics, so it was really a no-brainer to return."
He'll work closely with company founder Ed Chambers and his son, who runs the company's day-to-day operations. The senior Chambers "has a vested interest in lure design and has some great new products coming out soon."
