McCLELLAND NUMBER ONE IN QPT MEDIA POLL
MM Receives 9 Out of 14 First Place Votes

Norman, Oklahoma - The sport of professional bass fishing continues to evolve. Over the past four years, the sport has seen a number of professional bass anglers maintain momentum for an entire year. But there has never been a source to rank professional anglers that participate on the Bassmaster Elite Series, the FLW Tour and now the FLW Series during a one year period.

The BASS ZONE / Quantum Performance Tuned Media Poll, now in its third year, ranks the top 25 professional anglers in the world during the current year.

The QPT Media Poll features professional anglers competing in the BASS Elite Series, the FLW Tour as well as the FLW Series. Fifteen bass fishing media representatives, located throughout the United States, will vote on their top 20 pros every month.

Every vote receives a point value, with 25 points going to the number one angler and two points for the 20th. Voting totals will then be posted in The BASS ZONE the first week of every month during the season.

The QPT Media Poll is unlike any other poll or ranking system in the bass fishing industry. While some ranking methods use a multi-year average, the QPT Media Poll will produce a, number-one professional angler in the world utilizing a voting system comprised of bass fishing media veterans.,

The 2008 QPT Media Poll will consists of veteran bass fishing media experts. Below is a list of the 2008 QPT Media Poll Members: Louie Stout, Dru Smith, Alan Clemons, Jason Sealock, John Neporadny, George Kramer, Keith Nighswonger, Mark Zona, Dan O'Sullivan, Pete Robbins, Brent Conway, Steve Bowman, Rob Newell, Terry Brown and Mark Jeffreys

The June QPT Media Poll of 2008 is now posted.......McClelland Number One

Mike McClelland has taken over the QPT Media Poll top spot and there is a good reason.  McClelland is having a career year.  After six events on the Elite Series, MM is leading the Angler of the Year standings and has an Elite Series win, his third.  McClelland has cut a check in all six events with two top twenty's, a 26th and a 42nd finish, plus the win.  This could me Mike's breakout year.  But wait a minute.  Guess who is lurking, KVD.

KVD received four first place votes and slipped to the number two spot.  VanDam does have a win in Florida and two other final day appearances.  But the VanDaminator failed to make the cut at Amistad with a 56th place finish.  That finish was just a blip for the greatest of all time.

Skeet Reese received one first place vote and has been Mr. Consistency during 2008.  Skeet's worst finish of the year has been 22nd at Kissimmee and Lake Murray.

Several pros made the poll for the first time this year, including Kenyon Hill, Brent Champman, Ish Monroe, Fred Roumbanis.

Wired2fish.com's Terry Brown on MM - "Mike has had a super year and is very confident going into the final leg of the season. With Wheeler and Kentucky Lake he will be in his comfort zone and as a river rat the Mississippi River should play well for him too.."

Veteran Outdoor Writer, George Kramer on MM - "This ain't a beauty contest or Cameron Diaz would be on top. McClelland leads in the toughest circuit, so he's on top--for now."

ESPN Outdoor's Steve Bowman - "If you are leading the AOY standings on the Elite Series, which he as for most of the year, you are without a doubt the hottest angler in the land."

NOTE: Rob Newell was unable to participate in the June Poll.

During the 2008 tour season, the fifteen bass-fishing media representatives will take into account tournament performance, quality of the field, importance of the event and other intangibles that can not be reflected in an unknown equation.
