BIG SHOW DISHES SOME THOUGHTS ON TOHO

Things Look Tough Prior to Getting on the Water.......

San Mateo, Fla. – So much riding on the line, so much left to be decided, and it all comes down to Lake Toho. Site of Dean Rojas’ astounding the fishing world with 108-12, the site of Luke Clausen’s 2006 Classic win, and according to “Big Show” Terry Scroggins; the site of a pretty tough tournament with which to decide the fate of the Angler of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Classic births, and 2008 Elite Series invitations.

“It’s been at least a year since I fished Toho this time of year,” Big Show told The BASS ZONE. “But I will say this, it’s going to be tougher than we’re used to seeing Toho.” Scroggins said that weather would play a role, spraying could definitely play a role, as could pressure; on the anglers.

“There’s a lot at stake, and guys will be pushing,” he said. “We’ve been getting a little bit of rain, and it’s been a little cooler than we’re used to; in the high 80’s, so that could make things a little better.” He also said that Florida’s spraying of the grass could make a difference as well. “They spray 365 days a year down here,” he reported. “A guy could come through an area in practice and find a good group of fish, only to come back and find the grass in his area sprayed, and have to start all over.”

Scroggins said that he has an idea of what to expect, but that he hasn’t been to Toho in quite some time, and will play it by ear when he gets there. “We could see some schooling activity, and you know there will be a lot of flipping sticks out,” he surmised. “But, the whole thing will be to let the fish tell us where to go look.”

Scroggins said that he thinks the winning sack will average between 17 to 20 pounds a day, and that a nine to ten pound average should cash a paycheck.”

The Toyota pro is currently in 5th place in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race, and is leading the Bassmaster Southern Open Angler of the Year race after winning the first two events of the season.
